We are just coming into the time of year when honey bees start to swarm and we have already had a couple of calls from concerned customers asking what to do. Honey bees swarm when they are looking for a place to establish a new colony.
The worker bees swarm around the queen to protect her and keep her warm a single swarm can contain hundreds and maybe thousands of bees. The good news is that if you have a honey bee swarm like the one in the picture, they usually move on within a few days.
If the swarm remains for more than 48 hours they may have chosen to set up a permanent colony. If this is the case, give St George’s Pest Control a call and we can talk you through what the next options are.
